Carolina Hurricanes
Located in a town with no naturally occurring ice, the Carolina Hurricanes are nevertheless an extremely popular sports team in their home town of Raleigh, North Carolina. They started playing in the NHL in 1979 as the Hartford Whalers, but relocated to North Carolina in 1997 gaining a new name, and in 2006 winning a Stanley Cup.
